Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

Feed ("the Extension") is a Chrome browser extension developed independently. The extension is available on the Chrome Web Store and is designed to help users track and manage their time on social media and streaming sites.

2. What data Feed accesses

To provide its core functionality, Feed accesses the following on your device:

• Browsing activity on supported sites — Feed monitors which supported sites (YouTube, Instagram, Twitter/X, Reddit, TikTok, Facebook, Snapchat, Netflix, Twitch) you visit and how long you spend on them. This is used solely to calculate your screen time stats.
• Browser history — Used to identify previously visited supported sites for time tracking purposes.
• User-configured settings — Your daily time limits, blocklist preferences, and dashboard settings are saved locally.

3. What we do NOT collect

• We do not collect your name, email address, or any personally identifiable information.
• We do not read the content of any web pages you visit.
• We do not track your activity on sites that are not explicitly supported by the extension.
• We do not collect passwords, financial information, or authentication credentials.
• We do not use analytics services or tracking pixels.

4. Where your data is stored

All data collected by Feed — including your screen time stats, limits, and settings — is stored exclusively in Chrome's local storage API on your own device. This data never leaves your browser and is never transmitted to any external server, database, or third party.

5. Data sharing

We do not sell, rent, share, or transfer any user data to third parties under any circumstances. There are no advertising networks, analytics providers, or data brokers involved with this extension.

6. Data retention & deletion

Your data persists in Chrome's local storage until you manually clear it (via the Feed dashboard), uninstall the extension, or clear your browser data. Uninstalling Feed will permanently delete all locally stored data.

7. Permissions used

• tabs — To detect which site is active and track time accordingly.
• storage — To save your stats and settings locally on your device.
• alarms — To trigger background time tracking and limit notifications.
• notifications — To alert you when you've hit a time limit you set.
• scripting — To inject the usage overlay and Snowball companion on supported sites.
• activeTab — To identify the current tab's site for tracking.
• history — To associate browsing sessions with supported platforms.

8. Children's privacy

Feed is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.

9. Changes to this policy

If this privacy policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a new "Last updated" date. Continued use of the extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
